Achieving success in life is not something one gets by fluke or luck but is something for which a combination of skills, timing, hard work and grace is needed. We teach our children to dream big and work hard. A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic but takes sweat, determination and hard work. History has witnessed some of the most outstanding achievements by men and women in due course of time. However, the achievement is even more appreciated if it has been addressed by a person with any physical or mental disability. Around 60 of our old students are employed in the government services namely irrigation dept, revenue dept, police dept, IOC, BPCL, HPCL etc., at various capacities. About 85% of our past pupils are well settled in life financially, socially and ethically. The following are some of the success stories of the differently abled children from Annammma Organization.
Born with speech and hearing impairement in a poor family in Guntupalli village of Krishna district, I had a very tough childhood. With the support and encouragement of Annamma Special School, I managed to continue my studies with excellent results. After completing my bachelor’s degree at Annamma Organization, I applied for a govt job. By God’s grace I got a government job at Vijayawada Police Commissionarate as a Junior Assistant. Today I am earning Rs. 25,000/- per month. I am happily married with Lavanya and blessed with two kids. I will be ever grateful to Annamma Organization for their support and help in moulding me to be what I am today.
I, Shobha Rani, a speech and hearing impaired child hails from a very poor family here at Ibrahimpatnam of Andhra Pradesh. My parents go to door to door in the village and do the ironing of the clothes for the villagers. Being a girl child my parents were too much worried about my future and my life settlement. My life has totally changed after I entered into Annamma Organization. I completed my degree at the Organization. Vasantha Kumari m’am and other staff have identified a special skill of ‘drawing’ in me and encouraged me. From then on I regularly practiced drawing and excelled in it. The disability that I have was not strong enough to stop me from pursuing my passion for painting. I won lot of awards at the mandal, district and even at the state level for painting. Today I am working as a model drawing teacher at Parvathipuram of Vizayanagaram district. I am earning Rs. 20,000/- per month. I am married to Ranjith Kumar and blessed with a baby girl. Annamma Organization has transformed my life. Thank you
I never liked studies as I was born with speech and hearing impairment. My parents had night-mares since I was born with this disability. I had a very bad past as a child. All my difficulties have vanished the moment I joined in Annamma Organization. Here I learnt to study, play, dance etc. After completing my degree here, by God’s grace I got a government job as Senior Clerk at Irrigation department. At present I am working at Vissannapeta of Krishna district. I am drawing Rs.40,000/- as my monthly salary. I feel a great sense of achievement and success. I am married and blessed with two kids. I feel very much respected in the society today. All that I am today, I totally vow to Annamma Organization. If not for their efforts and follow up, I do not know where I would have been today. Thank you Annamma Organization.
My parents and me were bullied with degrading comments since I was born with speech and hearing impairement. My parents have visited all the temples, churches and mosques for my recovery and well being. But no God saved me. All the well known doctors were consulted but none could come to my aid. Having come to know about Annamma Organization my parents have put me under the guidance of Smt. Vasantha Kumari m’am. It is here I got relief and peace of mind. I was educated here and learned what life is and how to face it. I completed my bachelors degree and got a wonderful job at Indian Oil Corporation with a monthly salary of Rs. 18,000/-. Now I feel that I have achieved something great. My parents and teachers are very happy with my success. With sense of gratitude I can now say that Annamma Organization has given direction to my life.
I was very much relieved and relaxed after joining in Annamma Organization for studies as I am speech and hearing impaired. My parents could not afford to keep me at home and send me to school as we are from a very poor background. More than my parents my grandfather has taken enough pains to see that I get good education and settle well in life. I completed my degree here at Annamma Organization. It is here that I have learnt to live life with dignity and believe in hard work. Though I have not excelled much in studies but I have learned a lot of life skills. This is what kept me to go ahead in life. At present I am working as a Sales Executive at Reliance Mart at Vijayawada with a monthly salary of Rs. 11,000/-. I vow all that I am to Annamma Organization and all the staff who moulded me and made me what I am today.
I have seen the depth of poverty at home as my father was a drunkard and the whole family has to be sustained with the daily earnings of my mother. My brother also was born with speech and hearing impairement. At every stage, poverty has tarnished our family. Looking at our situation local leaders of our village have put us in Annamma Organization for our education and rehabilitation. 15 years of our stay at the organization has completely transformed our life. Our life and our future is shaped here at Annamma Organization. With the constant support and encouragement of the organization I, excelled in sports and games. Apart from district and state level games in which I have won numerous awards and prizes, I have represented the state of Andhra Pradesh at the National Olympics for differently abled children at Bhuwaneswar, Orissa and bagged two Gold Medals in 100 mts and 200 mts running. After completion of our degree at Annamma Organization we have joined in a private company at Hyderabad and earning Rs. 12,000/- per month. I am able to look after my parents well. I along with my brother will be ever grateful to Annamma Organization for transforming our lives.
